Have You Organised Your Festival Transport?

Matt Crisp January 16, 2020

2019 saw tickets for Glastonbury 2020 sell out in 34 minutes, as a record number of festival fans tried to secure their places for the 50th year of the event at Worthy Farm in Somerset. 135,000 music lovers will be heading there at the end of June this year, and coach packages sold out in 27 minutes! Make sure you have sorted your coach hire for Glastonbury this year.

The first Glastonbury festival was held in 1970, the day after the death of Jimi Hendrix, with a mere 1,500 people in attendance. It cost £1 a ticket, and included free milk from Worthy Farm! The festival founder Michael Eavis was inspired by seeing Led Zeppelin at the Blues festival at the Bath & West Showground, who decided to begin his own event, but on a smaller scale. Marc Bolan and The Kinks headlined the event.

49 years later, and tickets for the 2019 festival cost £248, with a capacity for 203,000. Stormzy headlined on the Friday night, and Kylie filled the Sunday afternoon legends slot. David Attenborough spoke from the Pyramid Stage, reinforcing his commitment to climate change action, and The Chemical Brothers, The Killers, and The Cure had incredible sets.

This year, Glastonbury 2020 boasts Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, and Diana Ross in the legends slot, with many, many more yet to be announced.

Of course there is much more than just music at the popular festival, with performance art, poetry, drama, comedy, and a wide selection of street food, drinks, and entertainment for everyone. The festival experience is now of greater appeal than the artists performing.

Glastonbury is not the only festival in the UK in 2020, with events of all sizes and genres filling the year, from folk music, to dance, to heavy metal, and all points in between. While some are based in a city, with good transport links, there are plenty, like Glastonbury that are quite a distance from civilisation, making transport somewhat difficult.

Planning ahead with your transport is strongly advised, as no one wants to find themselves having to walk miles further than they expected with five days worth of supplies, tents, and clothing. Check way in advance of the locations of the festivals you’re attending, and plan your journey. And certainly not forgetting your return trip, exhausted, hungry, and desperately needing a shower!

Booking a coach for your festival party to drop you off as close as possible, and then picking you up at the end is the surest way of hassle free transport, and a weight off your mind. There’ll be room for all your belongings, and travel in comfort. The only thing that no one can help with is the British summertime weather.

If you’re looking to arrange transport and coach hire for Glastonbury, or any other festivals in 2020, get in touch today, and let us get you to the party.
