4.5 Million Brits Travelling Abroad This Christmas!
If you’re planning on getting a bit of winter sun this Christmas, you might want to make sure you’ve sorted out minibus hire to get to you early enough, as the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) is saying that over 4.5 million people will be travelling overseas this year.
Abta is now advising travellers to leave extra time to get to the airport, as well as checking to see if there are any restrictions on public transport. December 22nd is predicted to be the busiest day for travel, dubbed Frantic Friday by the RAC, with about 1.25 million vehicles on the road tomorrow, the Guardian reports.
Chief executive of Abta Mark Tanzer said: “The weather in the UK looks set to be mild over the holiday period, which should help avoid travel disruption, but the roads will be exceptionally busy so customers should allow extra time to get to their departure port and check for line closures and engineering work if using public transport.”
If you are planning on driving rather than using coach hire to get to your destination, you’d be wise to pack your car full of supplies in case you do get stuck in standstill traffic. Make sure you have plenty to drink, as well as chocolate, sandwiches and other items to keep your energy levels high.
And some car games might be a good idea so pack some cards or some travel board games just in case you find yourself stuck on the road. Whatever you do, don’t forget to pack games to keep the kids well entertained – you could well end up regretting it if you do!
