Matt Crisp February 20, 2019

There’s nothing like taking a little city break to get away from it all and go back to work and family life fully refreshed and ready to tackle anything and everything that comes your way. But where to go and what to do? Here are a few ideas for anyone looking to book coach hire to London for a few days away in the capital this year.

Orchids Festival at Kew Gardens

On until March 10th, this festival celebrates the biodiversity of Columbia through a wonderfully colourful orchid display, with the flagship display a carnival of animals, depicting a hanging sloth, a flying toucan and a swimming turtle. Fun fact – Colombia has 4,270 species of orchids!

Pancake Day

Get your pancake on in serious style if you’re in town on March 5th, easily done since eateries all over the city are celebrating this day with crepes and pancakes all over their menus. You can also watch one of the many pancake races taking place across London, a fun day out for all the family!

London Games Festival

In London between April 2nd and 14th? Then the London Games Festival might well be the event for you, celebrating games culture over 12 fun-filled days. There’s a cosplay parade and family day, with an afternoon of game play, costume-making and catwalks, as well as an exhibition of new and experimental independent games at Somerset House to check out.

Underbelly Festival

Make your way to the South Bank for this year’s Underbelly Festival, taking place between April 5th and September 29th… so you’ve got plenty of time to hire that coach and pop off to the capital for a few days of fun. This year’s event includes The Wind in the Willows, The Amazing Bubble Man, My Leonard Cohen, Gals Aloud and lots more.

Eid Festival in London

This annual event takes place on June 8th in Trafalgar Square, with everyone invited to mark the end of Ramadan. Food from around the world will be on offer, as well as a wide range of family activities, live music and lots of other entertainment on the main stage.

Pride in London

This month-long festival takes place between June 23rd and July 7th, celebrating the capital’s LGBT+ community with all sorts of events, including theatre, art, dance, cinema, parties and a whole lot more right across the city. A totally unmissable event for all!

RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show

This is on between July 2nd and 7th, and the perfect choice of destination for any green-fingered enthusiasts out there. This is the biggest annual flower show in the world, with stunning show gardens on display, as well as incredible flower arrangements and demonstrations from not just celebrity gardeners but top chefs as well.
