Why The New Forest Is Great For A Family Escape

Matt Crisp October 3, 2018

The New Forest in Hampshire is a brilliant place to go with your children if you’re looking for a fun family holiday in beautiful surroundings.

Book luxury coach hire in London if there’s a big enough group of you to escape to the countryside – one of the best things about the New Forest for those living in the capital is that it’s only a couple of hours drive away.

The Mirror recently highlighted some of the top family-friendly activities to try during a visit to this national park.

At the top of the list is spending a day exploring Exbury Gardens, where you can also enjoy a ride on its steam railway that will take you through part of the 200-acre grounds, leaving you to discover the rest of this beautiful scenery on foot.

For a touch of history, head to Buckler’s Hard Maritime Museum. This entire village has been preserved to give visitors a window into the shipbuilding industry on the Beaulieu River. As well as the museum itself, you can also step into a recreated shipbuilder’s cottage and the village chapel.

To sample some of the region’s local produce, head to the Ringwood Brewery. Although the beer might only be suitable for adults, the tour of the brewery is fascinating regardless of your age.

Rushmoor in Hampshire might also be somewhere you want to visit, after it was named as the happiest place in the UK recently. The district came top of a survey by the Office for National Statistics, with residents rating their life satisfaction at 8.35 out of 10, well above the UK average of 7.7.
