Where To Celebrate Bonfire Night In London

Matt Crisp November 1, 2017

The weekend of 5 November there will be firework displays taking place up and down the UK, but where better to watch one of these stunning shows than in London, where the story of bonfire night originates from.

Of course, we all know the tale of the conspirators who planned to blow up Parliament, along with its MPs and the King, at the start of the 17th century. Nowadays, it’s marked by Bonfire Night, when everyone huddles around a roaring fire and watches as fireworks dazzle in the night sky.

If you want to head into the capital for some of the top festivities, arranging luxury minibus hire in London could be the most comfortable and least stressful way to get you to and from the event you choose to attend.

Below are some of the top Bonfire Night events happening in the city, according to Visit London.

Guy Fawkes Festival and Fireworks – If you want to dig into the story behind Bonfire Night, head to the Royal Gunpowder Mills during the day on 4 or 5 November to attend a theatre show or expert talk about the plot before wrapping up warm for the bonfire and fireworks in the evening.

Alexandra Palace Fireworks Show – Spanning two days, 3 and 4 November this year, this event is a wonderful one to attend. Aside from watching fireworks with a view of the city’s skyline behind, you’ll also have other things to keep you entertained, such as an ice rink, a funfair and a German beer festival.

Southwark Fireworks Night  – Set along the banks of the River Thames, this is one of the most picturesque locations for a fireworks display, and there’s always plenty of food and drink on offer, as well as a funfair. This year it’s happening on 5 November.

Other locations worth considering for Bonfire Night festivities include Kempton Park Racecourse, which will host a Superhero Firework Spectacular this year, and Blackheath Fireworks, which is one of London’s largest such events.
