Memorable Easter Getaways For All The Family This Spring

The Easter bank holiday weekend 2025 falls late in the spring this year, on 18-20 April. This means that the days will be longer and the weather will (hopefully) be a little warmer than usual. It’s the perfect opportunity to plan a family day out as the kids are off school and will soon be complaining that they are bored.
Why not get together with other families in your neighborhood and organise a fun Easter day out? Coach hire is an affordable way to avoid unreliable public transport and let a professional handle the driving.
Here are some favourite family destinations for a memorable trip out over the Easter holidays.
Cadbury World, Birmingham
The Cadbury World chocolate factory in the historic village of Bourneville near Birmingham first opened its doors to the public nearly 35 years ago, and is now a firm favourite for family days out. A host of fun characters will guide you through the chocolatey adventure, with rides galore and a 4D cinema equipped with motion seats.
There are 14 separate zones to explore as you learn about the history of chocolate making, and a range of educational talks and workshops for a choc-full day. There’s also a themed café and an irresistible shop selling all sorts of treats and gift sets with exclusive offers. There will no doubt be some egg-citing Easter activities in store for the kids as well!
Chester Zoo, West Cheshire
The late Easter means that it’s all the more appealing to get out and about, so a day at Chester Zoo is an ideal way to combine fresh air with a fun and educational experience. It’s one of the UK’s best stocked zoos, with over 37,000 animals from more than 500 global species.
The zoo is committed to promoting conservation work, and works in partnership with various worldwide organisations to prevent wildlife extinction and support the natural world. It’s also an International Centre for Zoo Science, and the health and wellbeing of the animals is supported by cutting edge scientific research.
The zoo welcomes groups such as coach trips and family gatherings, and groups of 15-20 people will receive a 30 per cent discount if they book online.
As well as the chance to see thousands of animals and exotic and endangered species, there are award-winning plants and gardens to explore, including the peaceful sunken garden, where you can relax to the sounds of water features among the mature native trees and flowers.
There are also various exciting activities, play areas and a tree top challenge for the kids, plus a Really Wild Egg Trail. Navigate the zoo with a trail map to spot decorated giant eggs with an animal pattern painted on it. When you have spotted every egg and named the animal pattern, you can claim your sweet reward from the gift shop.
Legoland Windsor
Legoland Windsor is another classic family destination, particularly if your kids love their Lego…this Easter, there’s the chance to build a Lego Easter egg, and to meet a new character for the first time: rather unimaginatively named the Bunny Suit Guy! There are also the usual Easter trails and treasure hunts to keep the kids entertained.
The theme park is also packed with rides, attractions, and of course thousands upon thousands of plastic bricks for the kids to let loose with their imagination and hone those problem-solving skills as they construct their mini Lego worlds.
Newby Hall and Gardens
Newby Hall and Gardens in Yorkshire reopens for the season on Saturday 29th March, and tickets are on sale now. The Hall is a finely decorated 18th century country house that was designed by Sir Christopher Wren. It’s got an interesting history, which you can learn about during a guided tour.
The extensive award-winning gardens are well worth exploring, and will be delightful as the spring flowers and cherry blossom trees will be in full bloom. You will find a mixture of formal Victorian gardens, rock gardens, water gardens, a tropical garden and a woodland garden.
For the kids, there’s an adventure playground, a miniature railway, a dollhouse exhibition and a Teddy Bear collection.
This Easter weekend, there’s a Magical Kingdom Adventure Easter Trail, where young participants will be invited to journey on the Woodland Walk with the King & Queen of the Fairies and meet the Rusticus Trees. It all sounds very in-tree-ging, and it’s included free of charge with the admissions ticket.
