New Theme Park Attractions For A Fun Family Day Out 2024

Matt Crisp January 19, 2024

It won’t be long before the February half term break is here, and you might be planning to take your family on a fun day out. Schools may also be planning a spring trip to one of the UK’s many theme parks. There’s a host of new rides and attractions opening in 2024, so hire a coach and plan a class day out to remember!

Thorpe Park

The popular Surrey theme park will be opening a sensational new ride early this year. Hyperia is billed as the UK’s tallest and fastest roller coaster, a must-do for thrill-seekers to tick off their bucket list.

It will be able to reach speeds of 81 mph, and at 236 ft tall, it will just take the height record off the current holder, Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s The Big One, which will now be the second biggest one at 235 ft tall. Thorpe Park is ideal for a family day out or even a short break, with a themed hotel and hundreds of attractions plus live events.

Legoland Windsor

Legoland has also been busy with some upgrades recently, including a brand new roller coaster that will see cars compete against each other as they reverse back and forth. A new indoor golf attraction has also recently been opened with course options for the whole family. In May, a new camping Woodland Village will also be opening.

Alton Towers

The much-loved Staffordshire theme park remains Britain’s oldest and most visited theme park, and it is constantly evolving with new attractions. It’s a classic school trip destination, and also popular with families, holiday makers, and as a corporate event venue.

The famous Nemesis ride has been closed for refurbishment since November 2022, but it’s shortly reopening to mark its 30th anniversary with a whole new look, including brand new tracks, noise reduction technology and a new colour scheme.

Chessington World of Adventures

The popular resort in Greater London is the perfect chance for kids to meet a range of exotic animals including Southern White Rhinos, giraffes, and wildcats. It also boasts the world’s first Jumanji themed land that brings to life the much loved films and board game! Follow the clues to lift the curse, and experience the thrills of the Mandrill Mayhem rollercoaster.

Disneyland Paris

For a destination slightly further afield, Disneyland Paris is a favourite. The landmark Disneyland Hotel has recently been closed for refurbishment, but it will be reopening on the 25 January with a whole new look. There are specially designed rooms that pay tribute to the iconic movies and characters, plus large as life characters.

There will also be new attractions at the theme park, including spectacular night time drone and light displays, and a new daytime show A Million Splashes of Colour, which celebrates the Disney and Pixar hit movies such as Inside Out, Moana, Encanto, Wish and The Lion King.
