Places To Escape With The Kids This Half Term

Matt Crisp October 12, 2017

It may just feel like the summer holidays have ended, but the October half term is fast approaching, meaning you need to book the best minibus hire around and get some events booked in to keep the kids entertained. Thankfully, there’s plenty of brilliant events on around the country, and the Guardian have highlighted just a few to get you started.

Isle of Fright

Did you know the Isle of Wight is supposedly haunted? It has a long history of paranormal activity, which has inspired a whole week of spooky events. Whether it’s a victorian ghost hunt at Carisbrooke Castle, the steam railway’s Wizard week or the illuminating Festival of Light by the stunning electric woods, the isle of Wight could be a great bet for a week away.

Aerospace Bristol

Opening on the 17th October, this event celebrates the south-west’s contributions to aerospace over the past century. Planes, rockets, helicopters, satellites and a real life Concorde (the last to be built and flown) – this event is perfect for little ones who dream of being the next Tim Peake.

Halloween Sleepover

On the 27th October, the Museum of London is hosting a special sleepover for kids aged between 7 and 11 for £60 per person. As part of the stay, they’ll trick or treat around the galleries, visit a Victorian street after dark to try solve a crime and hear some terrifying stories for Victorian London. After their spooky sleepover, they’ll awake to breakfast and everyone’s favourite Disney halloween film – Hocus Pocus.
