Using A Car Abroad? Make Sure You Know The Rules Of The Road!

Matt Crisp October 24, 2017

Anyone planning a trip overseas and intending to take their car with them would certainly be wise to familiarise themselves with the rules of the road in their choice of destination… but it seems that quite a lot of us fail to do this, potentially putting themselves in danger!

New Churchill Car Insurance research has revealed that over a million people holidaymaking in Spain have driven on the wrong side of the road by mistake. And one in 12 who have driven in the country have been involved in an accident.

If you are taking your car abroad, make sure you’ve read the highway code for the country you’re in. And also make sure you tell your insurance company that you’re taking the car with you – apparently, just 21 per cent of people who will be taking their vehicle abroad intend to do this. If you do have an accident away from home, you won’t be covered by your insurance.

Head of car insurance with the company Steve Barrett said: “Drivers may assume there are few differences between driving in the UK and mainland Europe but traffic laws across the continent are very different and if they aren’t prepared they could risk putting themselves and other road users in danger.”

Or you could consider sorting out luxury coach hire in Birmingham or elsewhere and arrange for someone else to take you and your family and friends on holiday. Here at A Class Coach Hire, we offer minibus and coach hire for holiday packages in the UK and Europe so don’t forget to mull this over as an option as well.
