When Will Caravan Sites And Holiday Parks Reopen?

Matt Crisp May 22, 2020

Even as the coronavirus lockdown measures are slowly lifted, it is still looking very unlikely that foreign holidays will be back on the cards for 2020, and more and more people will be looking at staycation holidays in the UK this year.

CEO of Visit England, Patricia Yates, told Cosmopolitan, “While for now, we must continue to stay home and enjoy our travelling online, we are working across the industry and with the UK Government to ensure that tourism is able to recover as quickly as possible once restrictions are lifted.”

While people in England can now drive to outdoor spaces for unlimited exercise, it is not currently permitted to stay overnight at any location other than your home. However, many are hoping that it will be safe for caravan parks and holiday sites to open their doors again in July.

When will caravan sites and holiday parks reopen?

The UK’s caravan parks and holiday sites have different policies as to when they plan to reopen.

Caravan Club is hoping to introduce a phased reopening of its sites in July

Haven parks are remaining closed until 2 July. Should you have already booked for before then, Haven will contact you to offer a full refund, or credit towards a holiday later this year or next year.

If you choose to postpone your holiday and accept credit, you will also get a £50 food and beverage voucher to spend on site.

CenterParcs plan to reopen on 11 July. They are offering a full refund or the opportunity to reschedule your holiday with a £100 discount.

The Camping and Caravanning Club will keep sites closed until further notice. People with bookings in May are currently being contacted to arrange rescheduling their holidays until later in the year, or a full refund.

Lyons Holiday Parks has cancelled all holidays up until 28 May, but bookings can be deferred or refunded.

Parkdean Resorts will remain closed until 31 May, and customers booked to travel before this date will be offered a full refund or a voucher to the value of 120 per cent of their original holiday.

John Fowler Holidays has closed all parks until 28 May 2020. You can reschedule your holiday or get a full refund if you are booked before then.

Butlins has closed all resorts until 2 July 2020. You can transfer your holiday to another date in 2020 or 2021, and receive a £50 resort voucher as a thank you.

You can also request credit if you’re not sure when you will be able to travel, or you can request a refund.

As the pandemic crisis is an ongoing situation, there is no guarantee that these policies will not change as the situation changes. For up-to-date details, contact your holiday provider.
