Where To Go To Enjoy The Forthcoming Heatwave!
Joy of joys! We’re about to be blessed with a serious heatwave and for us sun-starved Brits, this is certainly nothing but excellent news! The Met Office has said temperatures will rise for the last week of June and in some parts of England and Wales the mercury could even surpass 30 degrees C… so don’t forget to pack the sun cream when you go off on your jollies.

Pop off to Woolacombe in North Devon and you’ll find the stunning Barricane Beach (also known as Combesgate for those following a satnav). This delightful wooded valley is one of the hidden gems of the Heritage Coast, with a stunning rocky cove, incredible waterfall and huge boulders. Don’t forget your hiking shoes as there’s a five-mile circular walk to enjoy – and keep your eyes well peeled for the likes of badger, fox, roe deer, woodpeckers and lots more lovely wildlife.
If the idea of a long drive doesn’t daunt you, head off to WesterRoss on Scotland’s west coast and you’ll find the incredible Achmelvich beach… the sand is powdery, the water crystal clear – you’re to be forgiven if you start thinking you’re actually sunning yourself in the tropics instead of Scotland!
There are lots of lovely beaches in Pembrokeshire but Tenby is one of the best places to unwind on the sand. It is the region’s main holiday resort, so don’t expect it to be quiet but there’s plenty of space for everyone so you’re sure to have a lovely time regardless.
High Force Falls, County Durham
This is one of the most spectacular waterfalls to be found in England so the perfect choice for some fun in the sun. You’ll make your way through some stunning countryside in Upper Teesdale before reaching the falls – and don’t forget your picnic as it’s the perfect spot for a bit of lunch.
